Actinolite (North Karelia, Russia)

A green amphibole associated in our notes with North Karelia, Russia.

What it is

Actinolite belongs to the amphibole family and forms a compositional series with tremolite. Some compact, interlocking amphibole aggregates can constitute nephrite jade, but an actinolite specimen is not automatically nephrite.

Source and identification

Our notes give North Karelia as the reported origin. The precise locality and form should be recorded with photographs; fibrous amphibole dust should not be inhaled during cutting or handling of broken material.

Evidence status: Material profile based on sourcing notes and referenced mineral information. No laboratory report for an individual Soul Body Gems specimen is attached to this page.
