An eye for light, color, and the beauty others might overlook.

Mariola began photography lessons at ten. By fourteen, the shared bathroom in her family’s flat had become a darkroom where she developed film; by sixteen, she was taking professional photographs. Her photographs are still used professionally in her hometown. That lifelong eye for light, composition, and detail shapes the way that we at Soul Body Gems see gemstones and share their beauty with the world.

She has also spent more than 30 years exploring energy work and is a double Reiki Master. Her warmth and intuition have shaped the welcoming community at the heart of Soul Body Gems. She understands that people are often drawn to a stone for reasons that are deeply personal—its color, its story, a memory, or simply the feeling of having found something special.

Growing up in Poland under the Eastern Bloc, she found a lasting connection to Polish amber. She later immigrated to the United States and built a new life. Her resilience and generous spirit are part of the foundation of Soul Body Gems. To many in our community, she is simply “Momma.”

A scientist’s curiosity. An operatic voice. An artist’s eye.

Kasia has sung opera since she was ten. She pursued biology and vocal performance together, later earning a PhD in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, a Master of Science, and a Bachelor of Music. Singing taught her to carry a story, attend to emotion and detail, and connect with the people listening.

She brings both disciplines to Soul Body Gems. The scientist asks what a stone is, how it formed, and what testing can tell us. The performer knows how to share its beauty and story with a room of people. Together, those ways of seeing shape her curation, jewelry design, and the community built around each discovery.

Her path has also included volunteering in hospitals and nursing homes and taking time to care for family in Poland. Those experiences shaped the care she brings to the people behind each purchase. She wants every piece to have both a well-understood identity and a life beyond the display case.
