Blue Calcite
Background
Blue calcite is enjoyed for its soft blue appearance and gentle visual texture. Our April 2024 collection photograph shows old-stock spheres; old stock describes their collection history, not a measured geological age.
Science / Origin / Testing
Calcite is calcium carbonate, CaCO₃, a widespread mineral found in sedimentary rocks, marble and mineral veins. It has Mohs hardness 3 and strong cleavage, so polished pieces benefit from gentle handling. Blue is a color description within calcite, not a separate species. Its geology and color-bearing components vary by deposit; no particular color mechanism, mine or specimen-specific analytical result has been established for these spheres.
Metaphysical Meaning
Blue calcite meaning in contemporary metaphysical practice often concerns calm expression, rest and thoughtful listening. A sphere can serve as a visual reminder to slow down and create space for reflection. References to soothing energy are spiritual interpretations rather than demonstrated therapeutic properties.
