Campitos Turquoise
Background
Campitos Turquoise is associated with Sonora in northern Mexico. Our January photograph shows this named turquoise collection set in sterling silver rings.
Science / Origin / Testing
Turquoise is a hydrated copper-aluminum phosphate. Its geology reflects copper-bearing waters reacting with aluminum- and phosphorus-bearing minerals, often in weathered, dry-region deposits. Campitos is a geographic trade designation, not a separate mineral species. Reporting on the locality describes blue turquoise from Sonora and discusses treatment practices. A locality name by itself cannot establish whether a particular ring stone is untreated, stabilized, dyed or otherwise enhanced. We retain the supplied Campitos provenance without assigning an undocumented treatment status to these rings.
Metaphysical Meaning
Its metaphysical meaning draws on turquoise traditions of protection and communication. Some wearers choose it as a reminder to express themselves with calm, confident energy; this symbolic use is separate from its mineral chemistry.
