Celestine
Background
Celestine, also widely called celestite, is a strontium sulfate mineral appreciated for its delicate crystals. Pale blue examples are familiar to collectors, although the mineral also occurs in other colors.
Science / Origin / Testing
The formula is SrSO₄. Celestine belongs to the barite mineral group, with geology spanning sedimentary evaporites and mineral veins. Its crystal structure produces distinct cleavage directions, and its Mohs hardness is only about 3–3.5. These properties explain why specimen clusters benefit from gentle handling. No geographic origin or individual laboratory analysis is inferred for this January photograph.
Metaphysical Meaning
Celestine’s metaphysical meaning commonly centers on peace, reflection and gentle communication. Its soft visual character can serve as a focus for calm energy in meditation; these associations belong to spiritual tradition, not measured mineral properties.
