THE GEMSTONE LIBRARY
Emerald (Brazil)
Background
This guide covers the emerald spheres supplied from Brazil in our January collection. They are distinct from material sold as Emerald Mica or Emerald (Zimbabwe), whose shared report did not identify emerald.
Science / Origin / Testing
Emerald is the green variety of beryl, Be₃Al₂Si₆O₁₈, with color related to chromium and/or vanadium. Brazil has documented emerald deposits with differing geology and associated minerals. A sphere may include host rock as well as emerald, so its appearance does not imply that the entire object is pure beryl. We retain the supplied Brazilian provenance without asserting a specific mine, treatment status or laboratory identification of this particular sphere collection.
Metaphysical Meaning
Emerald’s metaphysical meaning often centers on growth, generosity and renewal. A sphere may serve as a symbolic focus for open-hearted energy; these associations are distinct from the evidence used to identify beryl and establish origin.
