Indicolite Tourmaline (Russia)
Raw blue tourmaline from the Shabrovskoye deposit in the Middle Urals, Russia.
Blue within the tourmaline family
Indicolite is a color name for blue to violetish-blue or greenish-blue tourmaline. It is not a separate mineral species. Tourmaline is a chemically varied mineral group, and its color alone does not determine a particular species.
Collection locality
Our sourcing record identifies the Indicolite mine at the Shabrovskoye deposit, Yekaterinburg, Sverdlovsk region, Middle Urals, Russia. These two June photographs document the raw collection material from that source. See also our general Indicolite Tourmaline guide.
Symbolism
In contemporary crystal traditions, indicolite is associated with communication, empathy and open-mindedness, often linked with the throat chakra. These are spiritual associations, rather than established medical effects.
