GEM KNOWLEDGE · MATERIAL PROFILE
Jadeite (Polar Urals, Russia)
Russian jadeite reported from the Polar Urals.
What it is
Jadeite is a pyroxene mineral and differs from nephrite, an amphibole-rich jade. Green coloration and translucency can be attractive, but “imperial” is a quality description that should be supported by the piece itself, not inferred from a regional history.
Source and identification
Jadeite occurrences in the Polar Urals are documented. For our pieces, the exact mine, any treatment, and independent identification can be added when records are available.
Evidence status: Material profile based on sourcing notes and referenced mineral information. No laboratory report for an individual Soul Body Gems specimen is attached to this page.
