Merkaba describes the carving’s three-dimensional star shape. This page gathers the form across several gem materials rather than treating “Merkaba” as a mineral.
The shape
In geometry, the form is a compound of two interpenetrating tetrahedra, often called a star tetrahedron or stella octangula. Carvers create its points and intersecting triangular faces in materials with very different colors and textures. The name used for a carving does not identify the stone it is cut from.
