GEM KNOWLEDGE · MATERIAL PROFILE

Murmanite (Lovozero, Russia)

A platy titanium-rich silicate from the Lovozero area.

What it is

Murmanite may resemble a mica because of its layered appearance and cleavage, but it is a different mineral. It occurs in the mineral-rich alkaline complexes of the Kola Peninsula.

Source and identification

The notes identify the Lovozero massif as the reported source and mention associations with other alkaline-complex minerals. Those associations should be checked against the actual specimen when photographs arrive.

Evidence status: Material profile based on sourcing notes and referenced mineral information. No laboratory report for an individual Soul Body Gems specimen is attached to this page.
