Ukrainian Phenakite from our June 2024 collection.
A beryllium silicate
Phenakite is a beryllium silicate with the formula Be₂SiO₄. GIA records phenakite among the minerals produced by the Volyn pegmatite field in northwestern Ukraine, a region also known for topaz, beryl and fluorite.
Provenance and the photograph
Our collection notes identify these crystals as Ukrainian Phenakite. The regional publication gives background on Ukrainian production; it does not establish the exact pocket or mine of the photographed pieces. This locality guide stays separate from our Nigerian and Brazilian Phenakite records.
