Purple Scapolite
Background
Purple scapolite brings violet color to a less familiar family of gems. This guide features the material from our April 2024 collection and keeps it distinct from our other scapolite entries.
Science / Origin / Testing
Scapolite comprises related aluminosilicates whose principal end members are sodium-rich marialite and calcium-rich meionite. The Smithsonian documents purple gem scapolite from Tanzania, but color alone cannot determine composition or locality. Scapolite geology commonly involves metamorphic environments. No specimen-specific analytical report or confirmed mine is attached to the April photograph; the collection name should not be read as a laboratory identification of an end member.
Metaphysical Meaning
Purple scapolite meaning is often connected with insight, independence and making considered choices. In metaphysical practice, it can be a reminder to pause, reflect and direct personal energy toward a clear intention. These associations are interpretive rather than scientific findings.
