Strawberry Quartz (Mexico)
Science & origin
Strawberry Quartz is a gem trade name for pink-to-red included quartz, not a separate mineral species. Fine reddish inclusions scatter through otherwise translucent quartz and give each stone a distinctive, seed-like pattern. The pictured facets are presented by Soul Body Gems as material from Mexico.
What creates the color?
Hematite flakes are documented in some Strawberry Quartz, but the name is not tightly defined: other pink quartz materials with different inclusions have also been sold under it. Identifying the particular inclusions in these facets requires analysis; their chemistry cannot be confirmed from the photograph alone.
Care
Quartz is relatively durable, but faceted edges can still chip with a sharp impact. Store each gem separately from harder stones, and clean gently with a soft cloth or mild soap and lukewarm water. Avoid heat, steam and ultrasonic cleaning when any treatment or setting is unknown.
Metaphysical traditions
Some crystal traditions associate Strawberry Quartz with warmth, affection and a renewed sense of joy. These are personal or spiritual interpretations, not scientifically established effects.
