Tiger Eye
Background
Tiger Eye is admired for a moving band of reflected light that shifts as a polished stone is turned. Our sterling silver rings show how a curved cut brings this optical effect into jewelry.
Science / Origin / Testing
Tiger Eye is a quartz-rich gem material with a fibrous internal structure. GIA describes crocidolite fibers encapsulated by quartz and iron oxides contributing golden color in its museum specimen; the aligned inclusions are central to the moving optical band called chatoyancy. This geology explains the effect without assigning a new species to the trade name. A photograph cannot establish treatment history or locality for an individual ring.
Metaphysical Meaning
Its metaphysical meaning often centers on courage, focus and practical confidence. The moving band can serve as a visual focus for steady energy and clear intention. These symbolic associations are separate from the physical optics of chatoyancy.
