This report documents a painted specimen; it does not imply that all kyanite is treated. The laboratory solvent procedure is reproduced as evidence, not as a recommendation to test jewelry or specimens at home.

This report documents a painted specimen; it does not imply that all kyanite is treated. The laboratory solvent procedure is reproduced as evidence, not as a recommendation to test jewelry or specimens at home.

Wagyl Stone 🔬

The tested cabochon is mainly quartz with minor clay minerals, possibly illite or sericite, and iron oxides. The iron oxides produce its delicate banding. The researcher describes a fine-grained siltstone with a clay contribution and interprets the colored bands as original bedding planes contorted before lithification. Australia is the sourcing locality supplied by Soul Body Gems. Wagyl Stone is the trade name for this material.
